Black Stars are unlikely to train in Cameroon ahead of the World Cup

Ghana will not take part in the CAF’s planned training programme for African teams participating in the forthcoming 2014 FIFA World Cup finals in Brazil, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

Ghana FA insiders say that though the federation appreciates the concern of the continental football governing body, the Black Stars are unable to participate because they have their plans lined-up already.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) last week planned a CAF training programme in Cameroon for the continent’s five teams going to the World Cup in June.

But insiders have told Ghana’s leading football news website that the federation has made its own arrangements for the World Cup finals and cannot alter it in the last minute.

The continental body had in its meeting in Cairo with heads of the federations of the national teams that qualified for this year’s World Cup finals, announced a planned a training programme for the teams in Cameroon ahead of the tournament.

Meanwhile Nigeria have revealed that they will not take part in the programme for similar reasons.

“I don’t think we will have the time to train in Cameroon,” Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) General Secretary, Barrister Musa Amadu

“We have already made our arrangements for the World Cup preparations and we cannot opt out of that with this short notice; all the same we thank CAF for being very gracious for the offer.

“They obviously have the interest of the five representatives including Nigeria at heart before coming out with such resolution, but we have concluded our arrangements for the World Cup,” Amadu explained.
