Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah has invited fit-again Stade Rennes defender John Boye for next month’s international friendly against Montenegro, MTNFootball.com can exclusively reveal.

MTNFootball.com sources at the French Ligue 1 side confirmed the player was told about the call-up national team on Tuesday.

Appiah wants to assess the fitness of the stalwart defender, who recently returned from lengthy injury layoff, as he finalizes his squad for the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Boye will be making a return to team since September last year when he picked up an injury after captaining the Black Stars in an exhibition match against Japan.

The centre-back was in the treatment room battling injuries and underwent surgery to correct a pubis problem.

He played his first top-tier football match two weeks ago when he lasted the entire duration of Rennes’ 1-0 win at Auxerre in the Coupe de France.

But the 26-year-old has not been named Phillipe Montanier’s team for their last Saturday’s Ligue 1 match against Montpellier.

Ghana’s friendly against Montenegro will be played in Podgorica in Montenegro.

It will be the last test match before coach Appiah names his final squad for this June’s FIFA World Cup finals in Brazil.

Why are you giving us one name at a time? can’t you publish all them names invited for this outing? Yesterday, it was David Addy. Today, John Boye is also inviited. Why not give us the list so that we know who is who?

    • spellBOUND says:

this is typical GSN jumping the gun again with their “EXCLUSIVE” theme. they can’t give us the names because they have no exclusive on such news. they will find out the same time we find out. this is their attempt to stay relevant by giving us names that we already know will get called. saying a healthy boye will be called is like saying “exclusive – gyan has been invited”.

  3. roberto says:

If indeed kwasi appiah is naming his players for the friendly match ,will he name one player a day? The other time it was Otumfour to dissolve kotoko board meanwhile the man hv not spoken .doing the bidden of ur paymasters? Shame ….

  4. smokey says:

Why does it take gfa so long to release the names of the players called to the blackstars? I’am right in thinking they must give the players clubs 14 days notice before the match about the call up so the player’s must know by now so thats probably why we are getting this drip feed bullshit.
