Ghana midfielder Derek Boateng has been given permission by Rayo Vallecano to sort out ‘personal issues’ following concerns over his fitness, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

Boateng, 31, joined the Spanish after leaving English side Fulham after just a year.

The well-travelled man has not found his place in the current Vallecano squad and has reportedly not yet convinced manager Paco Jemez of his qualities.

The Ghanaian international has been given the green light to travel out of Spain for a week before the start of the new season to sort out personal issues which includes the acquisition of visas for his family, Ghana’s leading football portal can reveal

Physical problems have prevented him from playing in pre-season friendlies against Leganés and Cesena, sparking rumours about his situation within the framework of Paco Jemez but he appears to have the absolute confidence of the coach.

The former Getafe midfielder is expected to return to Madrid next on Sunday.
