Defender Jerry Akaminko has left his Turkish Super League side Eskisehirspor to continue his recovery in Ghana, Africanfootball.com has reported.

Eskisehirspor officials have permitted the 26-year-old to travel to the West Africa country to try some traditional medicine to speed up his return to full fitness.

Last week, he began some exercises in the swimming pool and started work in the gym.

The centre-back is yet to join his teammates for pre-season after suffering a horror injury in Ghana’s pre-World Cup warm-up against the Netherlands in Rotterdam.

He underwent a successful ankle surgery in Miami last month after twisting his fibula.

Akaminko landed awkwardly on his left ankle rupturing his fibula and was ruled out of the World Cup.

He made 28 appearances for Eskisehirspor last season in the Super Lig.
