The Ghana 2014 World Cup contingent are expected in Accra on Sunday but quartet Adam Kwarasey, Michael Essien, Albert Adomah and Christian Atsu will not be on the plane to Kotoka International Airport, GHANAsoccernet.com can confirm.

The entire Ghana contingent are expected to head back home after their elimination from the competition as they failed to progress beyond the group stages of the tournament.

Norway-based goalkeeper Adam Kwarasey was the first player to leave the team's camp after seeking permission from team officials to attend to his wife who has delivered their first child while he was on international duty.

Middlesbrough forward Albert Adomah has also returned to England while Holland-based Christian Atsu and Michael Essien are also expected to fly to their various European bases today.

This means only 17 players will travel to Accra as duo - Kevin-Prince Boateng and Sulley Muntari were dismissed from the Ghana camp on Thursday.

Ghana's campaign came to an end on Thursday after the finished bottom of Group G following their defeat to Portugal in their last Group G game.

Defender Harrison Afful will also fly back to France just after touching down in Accra as his club has called him to report to their camping base in France.

At the Kotoka International Airport, the reception is not expected to be warm as most Ghanaian fans are disappointed with the team's performance.
