GHANASoccernet.com can exclusively reveal that Atalanta striker Richmond Boakye-Yiadom has earned a late call-up for this week’s international friendlies against Senegal and Mali in France.

High-placed sources at the Italian Serie A side have told Ghana’s leading football website, www.GHANASoccernet.com, the invitation was received late on Monday requesting his release.

Boakye is set replace Augsburg defender Baba Abdul Rahman who has withdrawn from Ghana’s squad due to a broken toe injury.

This will be his first call-up under the tenure of Avram Grant after being overlooked for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.

The 22-year-old has scored three goals in 18 Serie A appearances for the Nerazzurri this season.

Boakye, co-owned by Juventus, has been described as heir-apparent to Asamoah Gyan but he is yet to meet expectations.

Ghana play the Lions of Teranga on 28 March at the Stade Oceane  and then face the Eagles three days later in Paris.
