Ex-Ghana striker Godwin Attram feels Asamoah Gyan has done enough to be crowned 2014 CAF African Footballer of the Year.

The Al Ain goal-machine is among five players shortlisted for the continent’s individual accolade.

The 29-year-old is hugel regarded as one of the favourite to clinch the top award following an impressive scoring run for both club and country.

The former Sunderland is by far the best African striker having emerged as Africa’s all-time leading scorer at the World Cup, netting six times to surpass the record of Cameroonian legend Roger Milla.

Attram insists the Black Stars captain deserves to win the ultimate crown this year.

“To be ver’y honest with you Asamoah Gyan deserves to be crowned Africa Player of the Year this season, he said

“He’s done more than enough to win. He is by far the best striker in Africa and I don’t see any player who comes close.

“Look at his performance for both club and country and no one can convince me that he doesn’t deserve it. If we’re all sincere with ourselves, I think the young man deserve it.

Gyan’s must fend off competition from reigning African best player Yaya Toure, Nigerian goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of Gabon and Ahmed Musa of Nigeria
