AshantiGold striker Nana Poku will travel next week to hold talks with FC Porto over a possible move, GHANAsoccernet.com is reliably informed.

The 19-year-old will be in action for the Miners in the FA Cup final against New Edubiase on Sunday before setting off for Portugal.

Poku rose to prominence when he emerged the top goalscorer of the Ghanaian top flight in the 2010/11 season with sixteen goals.

A move to Egyptian club El Etthad El Scandry after winning the Golden Boot however proved abortive as the club failed to honour it’s contractual obligations.

Poku thus returned to Ghana where he eventually joined AshantiGold in a move to resurrect his then ailing club fortunes.

The former Berekum Arsenals striker has surprisingly emerged an interesting transfer prospect for the Portuguese champions despite ongoing talks with Israeli club Beer Sheva.

He will leave Accra sometime next week after playing in the MTN FA Cup final against Edubiase on Sunday.

So he played for Arsenal, then went to egypt after winning the golden boot. Also, I heard he is on loan from Chelsea, and now at the miners, yet he is only 19? not his dad but doesnt add up, so started playing since he was like 15 yrs in the Premier league? If he played at least a yr for each club.

  3. quophai says:

Pls i doubt the credibility in this piece of news… Poku has been one of the biggest flops in recent times. He failed to hold a place in Chelsea and has even failed to be consistent at Ashgold. In fact, i doubt if he was able to score about 5 goals. How can such a player, be interesting FC Porto? He should not even think of moving outside. I will advice he stays at Ashgold to rediscover his form. Who advises these players at all? FC Porto? No way…He will be in Ghana next season. I can confirm that.
