Joe Addo says the Black Stars defence is leaky

Ex-Ghana defender Joe Addo has lashed out at the technical team of the Black Stars for failing to bottle in the defensive problems that have afflicted the national team in recent matches.

The Black Stars failed to properly defend a set piece in their 3-1 win over Togo in Tamale but the goal scored by the Hawks in the match seems to have infuriated the former captain of the side.

The team again failed to organise its defence in the corner against Uganda in the penultimate 2015 Afcon qualifier in Kampala which resulted in the loss. Ugandan center back Savio Kabugo got his first goal in a competitive international after he headed past Razak Braimah in Ghana's goal.

The Black Stars have been guilty of similar shambolic defensive displays in recent games against USA at the World Cup , friendlies against Montenegro and Japan and even in 2105 AFCON qualifiers against Guinea and Togo. Joe Addo who was a stalwart center -back during his days as a Ghana international told JOY Sports in an exclusive chat the technical team is culpable for defensive howlers.

"I feel sad hearing that we have all these people working around the team. We have a technical team, video analyst, this and that. How come we are not able to remedy our mistakes? How come we are not able to find the faults and fix them? these set pieces which are happening in goals ,happened soo many times at the World cup, you would have thought that we would have learnt from it by now but it happened again," the ex captain hinted.

The Black Stars have had a multiplicity of defensive partnerships since the long term injury suffered by Isaac Vorsah and the Unavailability of Ex Captain John Mensah .Maritzburg United's Awal Mohammed, Kayseri Erciyesspor's John Boye and Evian TG's Jonathan Mensah have had a look in lately but it's the defensive partnership of John Boye and Jonathan Mensah that has come under massive scrutiny for conceding widely from set pieces. Joe Addo who scored two goals in 44 appearance for the Black Stars however thinks their highlighted flaws is a reflection of technical team's under performance.

"I don't want to blame individual players, it is a collective effort. It's from the technical body to playing body," the former Ghana defender said.

"When you repeat a mistake over and over again its doesn't tell me you are learning anything, I ask myself what are the Video analysts and technical doing to remedy it? "Addo said .
