AshantiGold have reportedly lined up ex-Ghana boss Guiseppe Dossena to take over the club next season.

Some officials of the miners have reportedly held preliminary discussions with the 53-year-old with a view to take full charge of the club.

The former Italian World Cup winner is also keen for a return to the West African country and fancies a stint with the Obuasi-based club.

Interim boss Yaw Acheampong has been hugely tipped to be rewarded with a permanent deal after guiding the team to the second spot on the league table with five games to spare.

He has worked wonders at the club since he took over from dismissed Croat Zdravko Logarusic.

The three-time Premier League champions were flirting with relegation in the first round but seven consecutive victories and three draws in the second half of the campaign under his belt, has put them in pole position to bag a top-four finish.

But some officials are reportedly mooting for the appointment of the expatriate with Acheampong likely to drop to an assistant next term.

Dossena, who was one of the charismatic figures to lead the Black Stars was fired by the Ghana Federation under controversial circumstances following the team’s quarter-final exit at the 2000 African Cup of Nations co-hosted by Ghana and Nigeria.
