Ex GFA chief Koufie okays Jordan Ayew axing

Posted On Friday, 14th December 2012

Ben Koufie has okayed Jordan Ayew's axing

Former Ghana Football Association chairman Ben Koufie has defended Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah’s decision to drop Olympique Marseille attacker Jordan Ayew.

The 21-year-old has been axed from Ghana’s provisional 26-man squad for the 2013 AFCON despite his impressive form in the French Ligue 1.

Coach Kwesi Appiah has insisted the Marseille player of the month of November for purely footballing reasons.

And Ben Koufie believes Kwesi Appiah’s reasons to exclusion Jordan is justified enough.

“He said he has looked at all the strikers available and believes he is not what he wants for now so we should accept it and pray for the team,” the 80-year-old Caf technical instructor said.

Jordan has bagged seven goals in all competitions for Marseille this season.

  1. Papa Nkrumah says:

But the coach’s explanation that Jordan is young and can play future tournaments does not sit well with some of us. He should have said clearly that he feels all the strikers he has at his disposal are BETTER than Jordan hence his axing. That would explain his dropping the player for purely “footballing reasons”. should be truthful with Ghanaians

  2. Adanko says:

And none of the strikers he has is even better than Jordan, its a lie……………LMAO.

  3. Asem says:

I don’t understand you guys!!!The coach has done his selection and didn’t picked Jordan ,period!!don’t input things in this!!!looking at Jordan and Albert Adoma ,they have the same style of play but Adoma is more stronger and defensively experience as he helps a lot the full backs and also play direct football, unlike Jordihno who plays agroo more!!

  4. Papa Nkrumah says:

If you fail an interview, the interviewer can still tell you your faults and how you can work on yourself to improve. Nobody should pretend they are in the coach’s head and offer an explanation on his behalf. He should tell us why he made those decisions

  5. TJ says:

try your best to understand what Polo is trying to say

  6. Dready says:

Jordan is slow and not up to it.
