Published on: 12 December 2013

Defender Daniel Opare's miserable run in this season's Uefa Europa League with Standard Liege was summed up on Thursday night when they suffered their fifth defeat of the competition and crashed out.

The Belgians finished bottom of Group C after failing to record just a single win.

Despite playing at their favourite Stade Maurice Dufrasne, the ten-time Belgian champions were humbled 3-1 by dethroned Swedish champions Elfsborg.

However, the versatile full-back was not involved in the game which they lost to round up a fourth straight defeat in the competition.

Elsewhere in Austria, crocked Ghana center-back Isaac Vorsah watched from the Red Bull Arena stands at the Wals-Siezenheim when his Red Bull Salzburg side comfortably thumped Danish side Esbjerg 3-0.

German-born Ghanaian defender Davidson Drobo-Ampem lasted the entire 90 minutes of the game for Esbjerg and was booked in the 70th minute.

Lee Addy lost his place in the Dinamo Zagreb first team squad when they suffered a 2-1 home shipwreck to Bulgarian champions Ludogorets.

Kuban Krasnodar held Valencia to a 1-1 draw at the Estadio de Mestalla in Spain. Rabiu Mohammed was not part of the Kuban contingent.

Wakaso Mubarak continues to struggle for a place in the Rubin Kazan team as he was out of their squad that trekked away to beat Belgian side Waregem 2-0 at their own backyard.

Meanwhile KRC Genk confirmed their superiority in Group G by beating FC Thun 1-0 in Switzerland.

While Bennard Kumordzi was playing 85 minutes for Genk, 19-year-old Belgian-born Marvin Ofori-Appiah warmed the bench for the Belgian title contenders.

Former Liberty Professionals midfielder Isaac Sackey played 81 minutes for Slovan Liberec who managed a narrow 2-1 away win over Portuguese side Estoril.

David Addy was a full-timer for Vitoria Guimarães who got beaten 2-1 by French giants Olympique Lyon.
