Michael Essien will train with Real Madrid today

Ghana midfielder Michael Essien will have his first training session with Real Madrid on Saturday evening, insiders have told GHANAsoccernet.com

The 29-year-old will meet his new Real Madrid team-mates at 1800 local time just hours after agreeing a rush loan deal with the Spanish giants.

It remains unclear whether coach Jose Mourinho will be there to introduce Essien as he might not lead the training session.

The Portuguese manager is scheduled to travel to Manchester to watch the match between City and QPR to be played at 18.30.

Essien will be introduced to them before the start of the training session as the powerhouse gets down to business with the former European champions.

This comes just 12 hours after joining the former European champions on a season-long loan deal from English side Chelsea.

The Black Stars player arrived at Torrejon Air Base at 14.00 local time.

From there he went to the clinic Sanitas La Moraleja to undergo series of medical tests.

The 29-year-old midfielder sealed the loan deal minutes before the transfer window shut on Friday night.

He travelled directly from Monaco to Madrid on Saturday as he was on the sidelines as Chelsea where thrashed 4-1 by Atletico Madrid in the Super Cup.

Essien moves to the Bernabeu to link up with former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho, the man who brought him to Stamford Bridge.

He joined Chelsea from Lyon in 2005.

Go Essien. We are proud of U.

@wise words, you forgot to add this..
    Asamoah Gyan-Al Ain.

  9. PRINCE says:

Gervin why are u counting debt whiles others are counting gains?

  10. tiger says:

@Gervin, Al-Ain is not a big club and Gyan is not a skillful striker like Drogba and Eto

  11. D Light says:

@ Gervin- If u play in a league dat is full of old men and part-time players who r mostly Students or Sherrifs, den u r not Considered as COMPETITIVE to b listed among GH Golden sets of Talented Futballerz. Those players WISE listed play against World class defenders like Pique, Chiellini, Thiago Silva, Mamadou Sakho, Ezekiel Garay… Unlike the self aclaimed ‘African Best striker’, who plays against amateurish defenders like Mohammed bin amin, Hossan El khadouri, Fawaz el Darrabi n etc. It is Hugely ODD to name the ‘mediocre’ among those Elites- Just like counting a ‘Chipanze’ in a population Census. WHY Luca Toni left the UAE just a season to Fiorentina- despite his Age & bumper salary xplains the level of the UAE league. He was desperate to leave! to the xtent of slashing his salary by 70% just to play competitively. Do u knw why?
    It is called VISION!!!

My fellow forum members you see how happy we are in this forum after Essien joined Madrid. This explains that we love our players and all we wanted is for them to aim high to succeed. The reason why we were all concern about Essien is the fact that he is too good to warm the chelsea bench. I would prefer to see him warm the bench at madrid than chelsea cos the records says everything . As for Gyan pls we don’t recognize you as a world class striker like Drogba and Eto cos the league you playing is a peice of shit in england, itely and spain. We thank God some of our players are aiming high to rise the flag of mother Ghana. Please Dereck Boateng you the next guy i would like to see get out of the racist league to join a team in good league.

  13. JAMAL says:

I wish Michael Essien the best of luck. Hope he regains his form at the Santiago Bernabeu.
