Essien returns in Madrid defeat at Celta Vigo in Copa Del Rey

Michael Essien returned to the  Real Madrid starting line-up  in their 2-1 defeat at Celta Vigo in the Spanish Copa Del Rey on Wednesday night.

The Ghanaian super star returned to the Madrid team after recovering  from a ‘ghost’ injury.

The 30-year-old encountered a bad allergic reaction to a medicine that was proposed and authenticated by the Madrid Doctor.

But the on-loan Chelsea midfielder made a quicker-than-expected return to the Real Madrid set-up as he featured 65 minutes for the Spanish giants.

Goals from Bermejo and Bustos gave Celta the lead but Cristiano Ronaldo pulled one back in a tie that the Whites will be looking to turn around in their stadium on 9th January.

Essien was replaced by Kaka.
