Ghana midfielder Michael Essien could be shipped off on loan to Championship side Middlesbrough according to reports in the English media.

The 30-year-old has dropped down the perking order at Chelsea under his ‘daddy’ Jiose Mourinho.

Essien has made only three Premier League appearances this term and is reported to be on his way out.

And even though his agent Fabian Piveteau has ruled out his client’s move to s lowly club, reports in the English media suggest the Ghanaian could be on his way to Middlesbrough for the rest of the season.

Sky Sports’ live transfer blog has linked the Ghana international with a move to Boro following Piveteau’s revelation that Essien has secured permission to leave Stamford Bridge.

This unlikely move will see the ex Olympique Lyon man join up with Black Stars teammate Albert Adomah who has been making waves in the English Championship in recent matches.

Both players are very much likely to be part of Ghana’s squad for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
