Essien: La Liga better than English Premier League

Posted On Monday, 1st October 2012

Michael Essien says the Spanish League is stronger than the EPL

Real Madrid midfielder Michael Essien claims the Spanish La Liga is the most competitive league in the world and superior to the English Premier League.

The 29-year-old moved to the Santiago Bernabeu on a season-long loan deal on transfer deadline day from Chelsea.

Essien made his La Liga debut last Monday and lasted the entire duration in the 2-0 win at Rayo Vallecano.

He is expected to play a key role in Sunday’s clash against Deportivo La Coruna.

Essien seems to have settled in at the club and but admitted it has not been a smooth transition for him.

“The Spanish League is one of the most important and toughest Leagues in Europe,” Essien told the club’s official website.

“Many people speak of the Premier League as the best, but the Spanish League is more fun. You play more football and you score more goals.

“The fans enjoy it. I am really looking forward to having a great season and to defending our title.”

masa u got it wrong!the EPL is the best.matches involving the top 8 teams are harldy to predict unlike the la liga, which is always 2 horse race!

  2. Saxcee says:

Did he even say it’s the best league in the world.
He said its “one of the most important and toughest leagues in the world”… He later said it’s “more fun and you get to score more goal” but never quoted La Liga as the best in the world..
    Who sides with me?

    • Abrantie-In Da House says:

I am with you my brother. Ghanaians jump into silly conclusions, without reading. I wonder why most us still just take the title to comment without reading the article. We all know how amateurish this site is. Hmmm, black man and reading, they say its a big problem.

  3. Jah Guide says:

Get a life you moron.you said la-liga is 2 horse race yet the smaller teams teams over keep disgracing your so -called big teams in Epl Doesn’t that ring a bell in your Shallow brain

  4. murder says:

  5. KUNG BANMA says:

@ JAH GUIDE,IT HAS NOT GOTTON TO INSULTS.THERE ARE INSTANCES WHERE SOME OF YOU EXPOSE YOUR IGNORANCE BY INSULTING OTHERS.

  6. ike says:

People say the EPL is the most comoetitive but I think La Liga is more fun. He only spoke of the good side o La Liga. Reporters must stop unnecessary sensationalisation.

  7. Viper says:

Ghanasoccernet paa,he said La liga is one of the most and toughest in Europe where did he mention it is better than Epl? ahba

  8. manuel yeboah says:

@Saxcee you are so right, they are just introducing a deception to what he said, which is very unprofessional as always, they need to keep people to patronize their site and so these kind of misleading headings are attractive

  9. Abrantie-In Da House says:

@ murder, please read articles bevor you ask questions my brother…cuz this is GSN 4 U!!

@kung banma.. my brother, this is not even one of the socalled instances, cuz Essien did not say La Liga is better. One just has to read the article to see that for himself.

@ real saba: my brother, you paa this? Didn’t know you will also fall into one of the tricks GSN uses here, since you are one of the best critics of this site. Why didn’t you read the whole article before? You just wanted to be first here abi??

  10. kuukuphilly says:
