Michael Essien in action for Real Madrid against Manchester City
Michael Essien has been has been handed a second consecutive Real Madrid start in Monday’s rearranged La Liga fixture at Rayo Vallecano.
The on-loan Chelsea midfielder gets the nod ahead of Mesut Ozil after impressing on his debut against Manchester City in the in the UEFA Champions League.
Essien will partner Xabi Alonso and Luka Modric in midfield.
Real Madrid centre-back Sergio Ramos returns to the starting XI after he was dropped to the bench in midweek.
Mourinho has decided to start Karim Benzema ahead of Gonzalo Higuain.

Essien will come back to chelsea to play under pep .we chelsea fans wish him all the best may the good lord prevent him from injury i also want him to play against chelsea in champions league.
Essien is good. Di Matteo just did not like him. A good coach will not allow players such as Essien, Kalou, Bosingwa, Merreles and Lukaku to leave his squad like that. Sturrige and Malouda will also have to leave in January. If not this incompetent coach will kill their football.
Di Matteo will not see the end of this season as a blues coach.
