Michael Essien scored in Real Madridââ¬â¢s final La Liga game against Osasuna to sign off on his loan spell on a scoring note.
The Ghana international who played the entire game at an unusual left-back position capped an impressive showing by scoring his second goal for Real Madrid in their 4-2 win at the Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday.
Essien is set to return to Chelsea alongside Jose Mourinho this summer but ensured he left his mark on the team by scoring the second of the game in the 38th minute.
The midfelder nodded in a Mesut Ozil cross and went made his way straight to the dugout to celebrate with departing Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho.
This was after Gonzalo Higuain had edged the dethroned Spanish champions ahead three minutes earlier with a cool finish.
However two goals earlier in the second half through Roberto Torres and Cejudo turned drew Osasuna level to turn the game on its head.
Real Madrid however restored its lead in the 69th minute through Karim Benzema before Jose Callejon wrapped up the win three minutes from time to end a disappointing season for Jose Mourinhoââ¬â¢s side on a high.
