Espanyol unveil new signing Mubarak Wakaso

Ghanaian midfielder Mubarak Wakaso was presented as a player of Spanish side Espanyol on Thursday afternoon.

The 21-year-old completed a medical on Wednesday and penned a four-year deal to become the third new signing for the White and Blues.

The presentation at took place at Hotel de Peralada and was attended by counsellor in-charge of sports in the region Germain de la Cruz and club director Ramon Planes.

Wakaso said: “I am new to the Espanyol layer and I’m very happy. Tonight, I can sleep. I want to thank you for welcoming me.”

“I have a mind to fight and help the team to fight for the Champions League or Europa. I will help in any way we can,” he said.

Wakaso moved to Spain at age 18 and joined Elche but after three years his contract was terminated due to disciplinary issues.

He quickly moved to Villarreal where he made six appearances last season.
