Spanish side Espanyol are ready to hand Mubarak Wakaso an improved contract in an attempt to retain the sought-after midfielder, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.
Wakaso has been targeted by many Europeans sides after an impressive showcase for the Barcelona-based side last side.
Espanyol confirmed rejecting a 4.5 million euro bid for the Ghana international from an unnamed European side.
English Premier League side Swansea are reported to have tabled a bid which did not meet the asking price of the player.
"Wakaso is key for the technical team and management so we are not going to sell," Espanyol president Joan Collet said.
"We will make an effort to improve his contract."
Wakaso’s market value rocketed after scoring four goals to finish joint top scorer at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa.
