Espanyol planning to replace AFCON-bound Wakaso Mubarak

Posted On Saturday, 29th December 2012

Wakaso Mubarak will play at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations

Espanyol are looking to replace midfielder Mubarak Wakaso during the January transfer window.

The 22-year-old will be on international duty with the Black Stars at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations to be held in South Africa.

The Spanish side had their request to have the player delay his arrival for Ghana’s pre-Nations Cup camp rejected by the Ghana Football Association earlier this week.

Espanyol will therefore miss the services of the player in their biggest match of the season against Barcelona on January 6.

Thanks to his speed and capacity overflow, Espanyol boss Javier Aguirre has used the Ghanaian in his starting lineup in the company of centre forward Sergio Garcia.

The game will be crucial for the blue and white as they are stucked in the relegation zone.

This is the first Catalan derby for Javier Aguirre, who along with his compatriot, defender Hector Moreno, seek to give the first surprise of 2013.

Wakaso is going to surprise many at the AFCON. He is the young Sulley Muntari, and ready to explode at AFCON. Watch out for that thunder left shots leaving goalkeepers hopelessly clueless.

  2. junior mafia says:

I admire dis dude,he is such a hatd worker..

  3. nana says:

He really is the new Muntari, well said kay.

I really think this haytou should start doing some work rather than sitting there and collecting bribe and favouring his french compatiots.
The AFCON date needs to be changed I understand the heat concerns but it is really going to have a negative affect when some of our players go back. This is one of the reasons why many of our starts are benchwarmers..

Anyway I look forward to Wakaso starring in this tourney becasue he is the real deal..sulley watchout lol
