Osei Bonsu has been released by Hearts of Oak.

Hearts of Oak have refused to renew the contracts of duo Osei Bonsu and Esme Mends, the club have confirmed.

The two players are out of contract and management upon advice from the technical team have decided not to extend their stay.

Bonsu, centre-back, has been down the pecking order with Nuru Sulley and Robin Gnagne the preferred pair of head coach David Duncan.

Midfielder Mends has failed to command a starting place after recovering from lengthy injury lay-off.

"Yes, the club has decided to part ways with the two players. We are no longer interested in their services," a statement attributed to the club's management said.

"The team is at a point that we believe we have to move on without the two players.

"We honestly thank them for the services rendered and we wish them well in their respective careers."
