Eric Bekoe has been told to stay away from Asante Kotoko
By Patrick Akoto
Striker Eric Bekoe has been ordered to stay away from Kotoko’s pre-season activities until his future is sorted out.
The proposed move of the 25-year-old to the Ghana champions hit a snag on Tuesday following contractural disagreements.
The player’s agent and officials of the Porcupine Warriors had reached an agreement for the player to put pen to-paper on a six month deal but a sudden u-turn on the part of Bekoe’s representative collapsed the move.
The former Heart of Lions and Liberty Professionals man has since been told to stay away from the club’s pre-season activites until the matter is resolved.
“We had an agreement with Eric Bekoe that both parties consented to. But his agent came back demanding re-negotiation,” Kotoko’s Public and Supporters Relations Manager, Listowell Yesu Bukarson told Accra-based Oman FM
“We were therefore faced with two options. Either to stick with the original negotiations or asked him to step aside.
“We opted for the latter and so the the situation with him is that he has been asked to stay away from the club until a final decision is taken.
“If we don’t have an agreement with him, there is no point for him to be in camp.
“I wish I could tell our fans the details of the contract in the spirit of transparency but there is an issue of confidentiality which must be protected.
“If I tell you the details, it will be like putting the cart before the horse. Because the club’s Executive Board chairman Dr KK Sarpong is in the process of releasing the full details of the club’s financial reports and all the matter will be laid to rest.”
Bekoe’s career at Egyptian side Petrojet was shattered by recurrent injuries which forced him to sit out for a year.was shattered by recurrent injuries which forced him to sit out for a year.
See they can’t even afford an injury prone player.
his love 4 de club is beyond control so pls lets consider dat.
What a childish comment by this guy. Did ur team able to buy even a local based injury prone Fiamenyo?. Well I think is step in the right direction.
Very Childish indeed. A team that has made the best and most purchases can’t afford Eric Bekoe? How about those who professed to be the richest club in Ghana? how many players could they buy?
Yes we cannot afford injury-players because we only sign players who are fit
Kotoko’s management and the Board of Directors are so shrewd acts with discreet prudence and wisdom in managing the finances and the image of the club. And the era that Kotoko used to be held to ransom and blackmailed at will is over. Kotoko is not like H of Oaks that could not afford even a decently average camping facilities, but opted to a cheap place where their players had to shit in the bush, and now many Ghanaians are of the opinion that H of Oaks should blamed for any CHOLERA outbreak in the Secondi-Takoradi metropolis. Like it was always said on this forum in many occasions, H of Oaks as the oldest club in Ghana has largely played the role of a “SCAVENGING VULTURE” that picks off from OTHER clubs “EXCESS SCRAP WASTES and USELESS LEFTOVERS”.
