Eric Bekoe must work his way up at Berekum Chelsea

By Patrick Akoto

Striker Eric Bekoe must work his sucks off to earn a regular spot in Berekum Chelsea lineup, says assistant coach Annor Walker.

The 25-year-old has joined the 2010 Ghanaian League Champions on a two-year deal after his hugely publicized move to Kotoko collapsed.

The former Petrojet man is expected to be a direct replacement for Emmanuel Clottey who has  also signed for  Tunisian giants Esperance after he excelled heavily for the Blues.

Bekoe will form a strong attacking partnership with either Latif Salifu or Bismark Idan but the club’s assistant trainer insists there are no automatic places for any player.

“ He (Bekoe) has sat down for two years without playing and so he needs to work hard to break into the team,” Walker said

“If he adheres to instructions at training, he will bounce back and become one of the best strikers in the upcoming season.

“I have not seen him. This is the first time that I will be working with him but I believe if he’s serious he can make it.

“Every player will have to fight for a place in the team and that includes him (Bekoe).

“But I have no doubt in my mind that he will be a huge success for the club.”

However there are others who have expressed fear about his fitness level but he insists he is in top shape and slams critics over peddling falsehood about his health.

“Throughout my career I have never had a knee injury and so It saddens me when I hear people make such claims,” Bekoe fumed

“If you don’t want me just say so and stop peddling falsehood.”
