Egypt's qualification chances for World Cup 'almost impossible' - Ex Morocco star Madjer

Ghana take a commanding 6-1 lead into the second-leg cash

Morocco legend Rabah Madjer says Egypt’s mission of overturning the massive deficit against Ghana – a team he describes as currently the best on the continent – in the World Cup playoff is ‘almost impossible’.

The Pharaohs are in need of a football miracle to reverse a 6-1 deficit suffered against the Black Stars in the first leg of the playoff tie.

Egypt however remain hopeful of their slim chances of qualifying for their first World Cup finals since 1990.

But ex Morocco star Madjer who is now a television pundit with Aljazeera believes the task proving too much of a mountain for the Pharaohs to sum mount.

“We can talk about a surprise but by the magnitude of the score seems unthinkable,” he said.

“Egypt though remains one of the great football teams on the continent.

“They have a good team but the mission is almost impossible. Beating Ghana, currently the best team on the continent 5-0 is not obvious.

“Even if they score two or three goals, it will be a big performance.”

The Black Stars will breeze into Cairo on Monday after completing their preparations in Istanbul for the game on Tuesday.

  2. SOCCERHOLIC says:

Really? is Rabah Magder a Moroccan? What happened to Algeria? ah well, what do I know? maybe Abedi is a Nigerian too.

  3. Yaroslavl says:

    I thought as much

  4. BERNIITO says:

thank you very much, Tuntum! it seems to me that writers of this site write while they are asleep! it’s either grammar error or contradictory statements. I’m even tempted to believe that most of their stories are just fabricated to incite some people to spew insults! how I wished most of the bloggers on this site would try posting comments on joyonline and if their names will even be posted. full of amateur journalists and some insensitive bloggers!

  5. Kenny says:

Thank you Madjer, you know the game. No country in Africa that can beat Ghana 5-0, not even against our U20 side. Al Ahly and Zamalek players against the Mighty Black Stars? WOW!!

  6. spellBOUND says:

dont worry, after gyan scores the first goal, the egyptians will begin to realize how futile their situation is.

  7. kao says:

The most fateful day for the Egyptian will be 19th November before their own background.
    Egypt 1 – 3 Ghana
    Black Stars all the way!!!!!!!!

  8. Carrthersman says:

GFA MUST REPORT THE LASER BEAM LIGHTS TO FIFA BEORE IT’S TOO LATE. THERE WILL BE 100?S OF LASER LIGHTS THAT WILL BE THROWN AT OUR PLAYERS, ESPECIALLY THE GOALKEEPERS EYES TO BLIND HIM. THIS IS TOTAL CHEATING. OUR PLAYERS SHOULD STOP PLAYING THE GAME WHEN IT HAPPENS. THROWING LASER BEAM LIGHTS IS AGAINST “FIFA’S FAIR PLAY POLICY” IT’S TOTAL CHEATING AND IT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESS BEFORE THE GAME START. LASER BEAM LIGHT IS A TERRORIST WEAPON. IT CAN BE USED AGAINST A PILOT FOR HIM TO CRASH THE AIRCRAFT, BECAUSE IT CAN MAKE HIM NOT TO SEE FOR A WHILE. EGYPT WILL EMPLOY EVERY DIRTY TACTICS POSSIBLE TO SCORE 5:0 AGAINST US, SO PLEEEEAAAASSE GFA DO SOMETHING. TALK TO FIFA ABOUT THE THROWNING OF LASER BEAM LIGHT AGAINST OUR PLAYERS. THEY HAVE USED THIS TACTICS AGAINST KOTOKO MANY TIMES THEY VISITED EGYPT.

    this guy is wise indeed..

  10. GHANSON says:

I agree. But no worries because I`m sure our players also have their own tricks on those fools..hahaha..they will see time wsting then smell pepper at the last minute.

    • spellBOUND says:

haha, if ghana starts time wasting from the first minute, i expect egypt to finish the game with 10 players. these arabs will turn violent when they realize the futility of attempting to score 5 goals on ghana WITHOUT conceding. i expect emotions to get the better of one of them and a red card to follow.

  11. Chiku says:

Come on Egypt nothing is impossible.

  12. DON 1 says:

@chiku. Now u believe the Black Stars of Africa are best team on the continent. Thank you for accepting that fact

  13. GHANABIBA says:

Spellbound, I’m especting to do the same thing your brother is doing…
He is creating awareness not that he doesn’t have anything to wright…

  14. We're The African Champions, (UP 9JA) says:
