Egypt U-20 coach Rabie Yassin has expressed his respect for the Ghana team despite defeating them in their opening match at the African Youth Championship (AYC).
The Young Pharaohs needed a late penalty on Saturday to defeat the Black Satellites 2-1 in Group A after the Ghanaians wasted a lot of scoring chances.
The Egypt coach has hailed the Ghanaian side for their tenacity insisting the Black Stars played well even though his side won.
“I have to greet the Ghana team. They played well and they have many good players,” Rabie Yassin said.
“Nevertheless about my team we were also good and I am so happy with them. We played the first half very well but slacked off in the second and allowed them to score.
“However we found our second win and won the game. We deserved the three points before the Algeria clash and that will be very tough because it is a Northern African derby.
” We will do our best to win the three points and qualify to the second stage. We will start preparing for the Algeria match from Sunday.”
Ghana will face a stubborn Benin side on their next game.
The corrupt Burundian ref along with the North African linesman stole the match for the Egyptians. Cheating must end in Africa
We were outclassed fullstop.
Why do we always play with this lack of seriousness???Egypt passed and moved the ball with purpose, though we matched them, the Egyptians wanted it more, in the end, their endeavour was rewarded, do we always think, we can turn up and just win every match??? You have to work hard for it. it is this stupidity that cost us the game against Burkina Faso and also against Zambia. This nboasem must stop.
Its our nature…there’s got to be something to blame.
Is this the same team that drew with Barcelona or playing football in the newspaper again???
This Egyptian team has been together since last year. They have even represented their national team on several occasions. Satellite played very well but as someone pointed out, the Egyptians were more determined and hungry and they were rewarded.
Under 27 competition
I think some people making comments did not watch the game well. Ghana basically outplayed Egypt. However, the Egyptian goalie did make a few key saves and in the end, a free kick and the dubious penalty led to two goals for Egypt. It was just one of those things. To be honest, the midfield control was better than what the senior team did at AFCON.
