Mpumalanga Black Aces coach Clive Barker says the addition of Ghanaian midfielder Edwin Gyimah to his squad is one of a few key signings in preparation for the next season in the South African top-flight.

Gyimah joined AmZayoni on loan from SuperSport United.

He is understood to have fallen out of the grace of Matsatsantsa coach Cavin Johnson.

“He will definitely have an impact next season,” said Barker. “We are trying to make sure that we not only build a strong squad for the PSL but a winning team. I think we had a great season last season, and the only way to better that is by improving our game and obviously winning our games.”

Gyimah joined Matsatsantsa back in 2011 from Ghanaian club Wa All Stars, and only made his international debut a year later.

He has been linked with a possible move to Europe, with Turkey being the likely destination, but the deal is understood to have crashed and Gyimah will be spending yet another season with a PSL side.

“I am happy with how the team looks now,” added Barker, ” and we hope for a much better season.”

Aces take on Bloemfontein Celtic in the opening weekend of league fixtures.
