Edubiase hitman Baffour set for Antalyspor medical

Posted On Thursday, 10th May 2012

By Patrick Akoto

Ghana Premier League top scorer Emmanuel Baffour will arrive in Turkey this weekend to undergo medical with Antalyspor with a view to seal a permanent deal.

The New Edubiase hitman will fly out on Friday as he seeks to complete a move to the Turkish top-flight for an undisclosed fee.

Officials of both club have concluded negotiations and if the medicals is successful, he will tie down a long-term deal with the side.

“I can confirm that he (Baffour) will be leaving for medicals on Friday and hopefully when everything is successful he will join them,” Edubiase president Abdul Salam Mumuni told GHANAsoccernet.com

“We have completed all the paperwork. It’s a done deal. What is left is for the player to undergo the routine medicals and then we finalise everything,”

Baffour has long been linked with a host of top clubs abroad but will see Turkey as the place to begin his European adventure.

The ex-Liberty Professionals and Tema Youth attacker has flourished this term in the Ghana Premier League with eye-catching performances that has seen him rake in 21 goals in 26 Premier League appearance.

He is inching closer to equal the 22-goal haul mark set by former Hearts of Oak goal machine Ishmael Addo during the 2000/01 season

  5. quophai says:

Ha! Antalyaspor… not even Fenebache, Busaspor, Besiktas, or Galatasaray. What happened to all the very good teams from Switzerland, England, Belgium, Holland and so on? This is how we waste our talents. Antalyspor? I wish him well. And please how much money is involved?

  6. kuuku says:

Even though the team might not be that good I know he will get ample playing time and that will even alarm the big clubs to have more interest in him.let’s not 4get what happened to adiyiah when he went to Milan..u have to start from somewhere….

  7. KT says:

When I say I’m against player exodus, Terror and the rest castigate me. Just look at this. The most annoying thing is he will be on the bench for six months and come on as substitute for six months and thats all. Meanwhile, we can use him to market New Edubiase better or even the league as a whole which bring in many returns than what he is taking now. Is Nat Asamoah playing at all? Prince Tagoe? Hmm. Ghana….we have 200 years more!!!

  8. Nana Qweku says:

Someone should advise dis guy not to play in turkey now.But play in de Swizz league or de Epl or Germany

  9. GH FUO, THINK BIG!!! says:

i dont like turkey. wat happnd to going to swiss fc. or even basel. u can raise ur stock so fast in such a less aggressive league in no time. HAVNT GH PLAYERS LEARNED WAT FENERBACE DID TO STEPHEN APPIAH? TURKEY HAS NOTIHNG GOOD TO OFFER ESP. TO BLACK AFRICAN PLAYERS. DONT RUSH.

  10. ujean says:

turkiye has neva bin gud for gh.attackers,he shud check da past records,i-.e tagoe, adiyiah, yaw preko, kwame ayew, tawriq jibrine etc

That reminds me, Where is Kweku Essien and other players who have won best players for our local league?

  12. bbc says:

Ghana players have no patient to make it to the top.I rest my case and too bad.

  13. Phillbanger says:

Guys my gut is tellin me that all these clubs wantin him was.jus a hype.cos why should u go to turkey.i really think he chose there cos of the money.thats a big mistake cos no one watches turkey leaque.he should hav went to europe.even if it is small money if he shines the big clubs will come beggin

  14. King says:

Can’t he stay and play the CHAN? Why the rush? Can Baffour handle racism in Turkey?. Emmannuel Eboue was beaten recently. WRONG MOVE.
Ghana has wasted many great talents by rushing them to play overseas. Only Udinese has been a good place for developing young Ghanaian players. Anyway may God help you.

  15. de-graft eugene says:

oh! Emmanuel baffour, wrong move, france wld ve ben a beta move. Our quest to launch a nu strike hit da wall again?! Hmmmmm.
Anyway we wish hm al da best.

  16. Augustine says:

I tink is a nice move, gud lack.

  17. betterwine says:

sometimes i wonder wat these local players knw wat they really want, instead of playin in ghana for 3 to 4 yrs to be matured they choose to go for dis peanuts

  18. Naci says:

Hi all, I would like to clear out all your comment about Turkey and Turkish Football in Turkey. I played for twenty years in Turkish Super leuge in Turkey. The football is very high level right now and better Swiss, Belgium. Howevery, there are racizm all coutries especially Germany, Holland, France, Belgium. 19. Raskoda jnr. Tema says:

Who are u? Turkey is a bad move but is nt deir fault de teams needs mani develop other talents, lets pray he shdn’t be a bench warmer der.

It’s meaningles to move to a country where the biggest match-fixer of the football history operates. That is fucking Fenerbahce.
