Ebusua Dwarfs beat Petero Atletico

Ebusua Dwarfs cruised to a comfortable 2-0 win over Angolan giants Petro Atletico in the CAF Confederations Cup first-leg tie at the Robert Mensah Sports Stadium in Cape Coast on Sunday.

Midfielder David Gomes hit the opening goal for the Mysterious Club in the 64th minute before Ricky Adjei Mensah cemented the victory for Professor Mintah's with a delightful chip from just inside of the area.

Dwarfs created a barrage of scorable chances within the first 20 minutes of the tie but Richard Gadze and his colleagues in attack failed to score.

Petro, who had the experienced Flavio Armando Da Silva in their line-up were unable to contain a high-flying Dwarfs side but managed to end the half without conceding a goal.

After the interval, Dwarfs injected more seriousness into their play and it yielded results as Gomes raced into the box to volley home from close range.

The Benin international had come close to scoring in the first half but missed narrow and when his time arrived to score, he took the chance and shot his side ahead.

Dwarfs did not allow their visitors to settle down before they added the second goal as Ricky Adjei Mensah curled a delightful ball which beat the keeper from the far post.

Dwarfs will travel to the South African country for the second-leg tie in seven days time.
