Dwarfs bring Hearts down to earth with 3-1 victory

Posted On Saturday, 20th October 2012

Hearts of Oak's Isaac Ofori and a Dwarfs player in a battle for the ball in mid-air

Ebusua Dwarfs recorded their first Ghana Premier League win of the season after shocking Hearts of Oak 3-1 at the Tema Park on Saturday.

Midfielder John Arthur underlined his impressive scoring form against Hearts by snatching the opener in the 39th minute.

But defender Nuru Suley restored parity for the Phobians three minutes before the break.

Hearts goalkeeper Sammy Adjei failed to deal with a Prince Appiah innocuous drive from the edge of the box on 49 minute to give Dwarfs the lead again.

Substitute Bright Lukeman was fouled inside the box and he stepped up to send Sammy Adjei the wrong way to put the game beyond Hearts.

Hearts were hoping to maintain their impressive display against New Edubiase United last weekend while Dwarfs were aiming for their first win of the season.

Both sides squandered glorious chances in the opening 30 minutes.

A well-rehearsed free-kick in the 29th minute found Mahatma Otoo in an advantageous position but the Hearts captain blasted wide.

Striker Edward Affum watched his header acrobatically palmed away by the Foli Adade in the 35th minute.

While Hearts were piling the pressure in search of the opening goal, Dwarfs took the lead.

The Hearts defence failed to deal with a goalmouth melee and as a Kwame Frimpong cross was connected home by Arthur.

The travelling fans had just three minutes to jubilate as Nuru Suley levelled the scoring for Hearts.

Appiah restored the lead for Dwarfs when he fired a harmless drive which managed to beat Sammy Adjei.

Professor Mintah’s side sealed the win when Lukeman converted from the spot five minutes from time.

Defender Godwin Osei Bonsu fouled him inside the box and he stepped up to send a low drive home.

  3. Kpogas says:

Why do this club always take Hearts EASY? Dwarf won Hearts both home and away when they were in the l’gue in the past years. And today too! Work hard Hearts. I’m Fabu fan but it pains me a lot.

  8. fakulty says:

de ghanaian premier league is nothing compared to entertainment but rather comical, full of juju, very funny to know dat hearts of oak lost to dwarfs, hehehe,my only sympathy goes to ck akunnor who is trying all his possible best,i pity him cos his potentials cannot be recognised in a league full of black magic.

  9. GH FUO, THINK BIG!!! says:

WONDER HOW MOST OF THESE CLUBS HAVE T SEE THEIR PLAYERS. SO TEMA YOUTH AND THE CITY OF TEMA CANT FIND WAYS TO PUT SEATS AND ROOF AT THE TEMA STADIUM? OH GHFUO….BORROW MONEY AND DO THIS AND IN 1 YR U CAN PAY BACK THE LOAN FROM THE GATE PROCEEDS. NO MORE POPULAR STAND!

DWARFS WON BCOS THEIR PLAYERS HAVE BEEN TOGETHER AND PLAYED TOGETHER FOR A WHILE. HEARST HAS SOLD MOST OF THEIR BEST PLAYERS. THAT WAS THE DIFFERENCE. GFA/GH FOOLS ASSOCIATION NEED TO SIT UP AND PUT IN PLACE A 3 YR PERIOD. NO PLAYER WILL BE ELIGIBLE FOR SALE UNTIL THEY HAVE PLAYED IN THE LEAGUE FOR 3 YRS.

  10. KT says:

This loss was very necessary for the team. Dwarves is arguably well-organised team, they took their few chances, while my boys looked drunk infront of goal. CK needs to watch them. But I believe its no issue at all because it happens.

  13. pacific says:

@ Gh fuo, there is nothing gfa can do ..they can decide for the clubs when and how they shd sell their players.. does the gfa pay the salaries of the players?? so stop insulting the gfa..if u think u ve enough money,u can help the clubs so that they will able to maintain their play for longer period

    • GH FUO, THINK BIG!!! says:

PACIFIC, TAKE THE KEY AND OPEN UP THE LOCK THAT IS REFUSING TO ALLOW YOUR BRAIN TO THINK, U HEAR ME? GFA IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE SUCCESS OF THE LEAGUE, CLUBS AND THE PLAYERS. WAT DO U MEAN GFA CANT DO ANYTHING? CHOOSING TO NOT DO ANYTHING AND ACTUALLY DOING SMTHING ABOUT THE CURRENT EXODUS OF ALL OUR PLAYERS IS A CHOICE. THE ONLY REASON NYANATKYI CHOOSES TO NOT PUT IN PLACE A PLAN OR RULING IS BECOS HE IS BENEFITING FROM THE SALE OF PLAYERS VIS A VIS THE CONTRACT HE SIGHED WITH MAN CITY.. THEN AGAIN, MANY PPL LIKE YOURSELF ARE TOO DUMB TO SEE THE PROBLEM. PERHAPS, U ARE WAITING FOR THE PROBLEM TO GET OUT OF HAND BEFORE U EXPECT GFA TO DO SMTHING? ALRITE THEN I WILL GIVE YOU 1…WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME A CLUB IN GH WON A CHAMPIONS LEAGUE TROPHY? CLUBS LIKE ESPERANCE, AHLY, TP MAZEMBE ARE THE ONES WINNING THE TROPHIES. COINCIDENTALLY, THESE ARE THE SAME CLUBS THE MAJORITY OF GH CLUBS SELL THEIR PLAYERS TO. IF GFA INSTITUTES A 3YR POLICY FOR ALL CLUBS, DONT YOU THINK THIS MAY CHANGE? IF YOU THINK KOTOKO HAS A CHANCE OF GOING TO CHAMPS LEAGUE AND WINNING THE TROPHY THEN U ARE DREAMING. THEY HAVE SOLD ALL THEIR BEST PLAYERS. FOR A TEAM TO WIN, U NEED THE PLAYERS TO PLAY TOGETHER FOR OVER 2 YRS

  14. Area says:

What is shock about this? Dwarf is very strong

  15. pacific says:

gh fuo..u are a confused guy..there is no need for me to keep arguing with u..
