Draw against Hearts left me in shock - Kotoko chairman

Asante Kotoko chairman Dr K.K Sarpong says the 0-0 draw with Hearts of Oak last Sunday came to him as a shock.

The champions failed to make their superior ball possession count in the final third before their home fans at a packed Baba Yara Stadium.

Hearts left Kumasi the happier side following their recent problems both on and off the field.

The result left the Kotoko fans bitterly disappointed as they failed to get one over their under-par rivals on Sunday.

And Dr Sarpong admits he felt same after the fairly entertaining game but takes consolation in Kotoko’s recent record against Hearts.

“I knew we were going to beat them (Hearts) hands down and therefore the result came to me as a shock,” he told Angel FM.

“But the consolation in it is that their superior record playing in Kumasi has been broken, they can no longer beat us on our home grounds.

“Since I came in we have played four matches, we’ve lost once, won two and drawn one so the record is not that bad even though I’d wished we had beaten them.

“I will therefore urge the supporters to remain calm because if you analyze our game, we play just like in the foreign leagues its just that we have been unlucky with wins.”
