Dieumerci Mbokani tips the Black Stars to win the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations

DR Congo striker Dieumerci Mbokani says Ghana are the favourites to win the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Belgium-based attacker says the Black Stars have got the quality players to win Africa’s flagship tournament which will be played in South Africa next month.

Mbokani will face the Black Stars in Group B of the competition on 20th January and admits facing the four-time champions will be tough.

“Next year’s African Cup is going to be tough, especially when you play against a team like Ghana,” he said.

“Ghana is a strong team and they win the tournament. Nigeria and Cote D’ Ivoire are also a threat but I’ll bet on Ghana.”

Despite tipping Ghana to win the competition, Mbokani says they will be eyeing a victroy over Ghana when they clash ion Group B’s opener.

“But I hope we play well against them and surprise them when we meet.”

The 27-year-old signed a contract with Anderlecht for a reported fee of €3 million last season from AS Monaco.

Mbokani is one of DR Congo’s key players for as he has been in excellent form for Anderlecht over the past few seasons.

    We have to watch this guy carfully, our group is underated but I feel we have the toughest group, as no one seems to be talking about DRC, and to me they psoe a bigger threat than even mali, this guy is joint top scorer in this years champ league and its by no fluke he has been scoring goals for fun for the past 3 seasons and will be a big danger alongside Tresor Mputu, We have to be careful!!!

    They are all mind games…. Dr congo is tough team to beat and they are not minnows…. they are also powerhouse but took a tumble because of the war but i bet anyone,we underrate them at our own peril!! We have to have them with full arsenals!! Viva the revolutioncioooooooo!!!

      Exact strategy Zambians used against us. Akwasi Appiah shouldn’t believe a THING anyone says but seriously take every match as the finals.
      As a matter of fact we need Quincy to open up defenders.
