Abdoulaye Soulama loses dad
By Ameenu Shardow
Goalkeeper Abdoulaye Soulama lost his dad on the same day he was sent off in Burkina Faso’s 4-0 thrashing of Ethiopia, it has been revealed.
The Asante Kotoko glovesman has since left the Burkina camp to be with his family during this difficult period.
The 33-year-old was red carded for handling the ball outside his penalty area during the massive win over Ethiopia on Friday.
It has however been revealed that officials hid the news of the unfortunate death from Soulama for fear of breaking his concentration in the crucial game.
The sad news was however communicated to the goalkeeper moments after his sending off which sees him suspended for three matches – effectively ending his participation at the Nations Cup in South Africa.
Soulama has been extremely impressive for Burkina Faso until receiving his marching orders on Friday.
He will however take solace in the impressive performance of his team as they went on the rampage to tear apart Ethiopia after his expulsion.
Well, sorry kid,may he Rest in Peace
Oh Ganasoccernet how does his sending off effectively end his participation at afcon 2013 in South Africa when there is a possibilty dat Burkina Faso can make it pass de group stages, quarter final, semi final & final by which time he would have served his suspension & would therefore be availabe 4 selection again? In areas of probabilities & possibilites, it’s always important to err on de side of caution. Thank u.
I thought all cards will be cancelled from the group stages or this affects only yellow cards?
I thought all cards will be cancelled after the group stages.
Burkina will surely tear apart Zambia and consequently eliminate them from the AFCON .
oh sorry!
Condolonces from Zambia!
With sorrow filling our aching heart, we entreat him to be comforted.
may his soul rest in peace bro. take care
