Ghana's John Boye snapped kissing a wad of notes, minutes before scoring an own goal in his team's loss to Portugal.

Black Stars players will have no chance of kissing wads of cash as the Ghana Football Association has ruled that players and officials of the senior national team will only be paid by cheque or bank transfers.

Players and officials of the team will be told at a meeting on Tuesday that henceforth they will be paid by cheque or the monies will be wired into their accounts following they payment of cash to players at the World Cup that brought embarrassment to the country.

Ghana's government sent more than $4m in cash by plane to the tournament Brazil to pay the appearance fees owed to the national team at the World Cup.

Defender John Boye was pictured kissing wads of cash when he received his appearance fee with the picture bringing further disgrace to the country.

Now the GFA says a safer and a secure way of playing will be implemented from the Black Stars next match against Uganda in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

"Players will no longer be paid in cash, they will be paid either by wire transfers or by cheque," GFA's Director of Communications, Ibrahim Sannie Daara, said at a media briefing in Accra on Friday.

The GFA revealed that they will explain to the players why this measure has been taken in the wake of the disaster in Brazil.
