Ghanaian midfielder Derrick Mensah is confident Banik Ostrava can win the Czech Republic league title if they maintain their focus and work towards it.

Ostrava are fifth on the ten-week-old league and have maintained a decent run, winning five, drawing two and losing the others.

Their victories including a famous triumph over Sparta Praha at their own backyard and, Mensah a for Ghana U20 midfielder, believes they stand a good chance of booking a Uefa Champions League ticket for next season.

I think it will be difficult for us to win the league even though its possible for us due to our style of playing and the form we are in now," he told GHANAsoccernet.com.

But we would have to work harder to achieve that feat like wise qualifying to europe. Nonetheless I think we will achieve something big this season. That's our aim and we are working towards it."

Mensah, along with ex-Ghana U20 attacker Francis Narh joined Banik last season from Ghanaian second-tier side Tema Youth after abrogating their contract with Tunisian side Club Africain due to obligation failures.

The pair helped Ostrava to beat the drop after winning their game to stay in the Relegation Playoffs.

Narh has contributed a goal for Ostrava's campaign.
