Dutch-born Ghanaian defender Derrick Luckassen has revealed he takes extra-time to rehearse free-kicks after AZ Alkmaar training sessions.

The 19-year-old central defender was crowned best player of the match after scoring in AZ Alkmaar's 3-1 triumph over ADO Den Haag in the Dutch top-flight league on Saturday.

"After the training exercise Gudelj and I often on free kicks. Friday I have done that with him, Steven Berghuis and Aron Jóhannsson. When it went it there, it was so pretty," the Amsterdam-born said.

Luckassen is in the media for good reasons this time around as the news was bad for him two weeks ago after he scored an own-goal against Feyenoord - a contrast which leaves the youngster in a bitter-sweet state.

"It's lot easier to talk to the press now than two weeks," he said.
