Dutch-born Ghanaian defender Derrick Luckassen swooped the Man-of-the-Match Award after scoring and excelling for AZ Alkmaar as they thrashed ADO Den Haag 3-1 in the Dutch Eredivisie on Saturday. 

The 19-year-old central defender whipped in a wonderful free-kick from 20-yards to restore AZ's lead AFAS Stadion after Portuguese Eduardo Wilson had cancelled their earlier lead.

Luckassen, born to Ghanaian parents in the Netherlands, applied an superb technique, curling the ball and beating the visitors.

After from scoring on the afternoon, he expertly executed his defensive duties, blocking the opposition attack from causing any havoc to the host.

He was playing just his 12th league game of his debut season and impressed to the fullest to win the award.

He is the brother of Slovan Liberec attacker Kevin Luckassen who has expressed interest in playing for Ghana.
