Carlisle United winger Danny Kearns has praised Ghanaian international attacker Derek Asamoah for his influence since arriving on a short-term deal.

The experienced 33-year-old has netted 4 time in 5 games since his arrival in October and, Kearns who has recently recovered from injury believes the former OG Nice winger has added value to the League Two side's campaign.

“He’s a bit quiet – I’m sure a few of the boys have said that – but he’s a great outlet to have,” Kearns said.

“We can just put balls in behind and we know his pace will get on the end of things. With his goal last weekend he showed what he was about – and he had a lot of time in front of goal to pick his spot.

“He’s a great lad. He’s similar to myself in terms of getting back up to full speed and fitness. As the games have gone on, he’s shown he’s getting fitter and stronger.”

Asamoah’s four goals in five games have seen the 33-year-old rapidly become a key player in Curle’s side, who face a trip to third-bottom Dagenham & Redbridge this weekend.
