Derek Asamoah, Baffour fail to make final Ghana AFCON squad

Strikers Derek Asamoah and Emmanuel Baffour have been dropped from Ghana's 23-man squad for the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations.

South Korea-based Asamoah, who claimed he has done enough to merit  a place for the tournament, could not convince the technical team.

He was recalled into the national team last November in a friendly against tournament co-hosts Gabon and he scored a late winner in a 2-1 success for the Black Stars.

Baffour, who is currently the leading scorer in the Ghana League, has been overlooked by coach Goran Stevanovic.

Injured striker Asamoah Gyan has been included in the squad, having made good progress on the hamstring injury he picked up last month.

The Al Ain ace has begun his horse placenta treatment with Serbian housewife Mariajna Kovacevic.

Ghana's final squad:

Goalkeepers: Adam Kwarasey, Daniel Adjei, Ernest Sowah.

Defenders: Samuel Inkoom, John Paintsil, Daniel Opare, Masawudu Alhassan, Lee Addy, John Boye, John Mensah, Jonathan Mensah, Isaac Vorsah

Midfielders: Charles Takyi, Emmanuel Agyemang Badu, Derek Boateng, Anthony Annan, Mohammed Abu, Kwadwo Asamoah, Sulley Muntari, Andre Ayew

Strikers: Prince Tagoe, Asamoah Gyan, Jordan Ayew.
