Struggling AC Milan will return to Serie A action on Wednesday night without their influential Ghanaian midfielder Kevin Prince Boateng.
A depleted and angry Milan will also play without Cristian Zapata and coach Massimiliano Allegri against Cagliari at the San Siro Stadium.
Boateng is serving a suspension after being sent-off in their weekend’s game against Udinese.
To make matters worse, their last game saw Cristian Zapata’s debut against his former club turn wayward after he conceded a penalty and saw red.
Boateng lasted little over ten minutes before being handed his marching orders too. From that 2-1 loss to Udinese, the duo will be serving their suspension in the game along with Allegri, who was suspended for his touchline antics. The start of the season has fallen nothing short of frustrating, disappointing and bewildering for Milan.
After seeing more than eleven starting players depart in the summer, the results have left the club with even less to smile about.
One win and three losses has handed the Rossoneri their worst start since 1940, with not a point or goal being scored since the new semi-artificial turf was laid at the Guiseppe Meazza stadium: labeling the scenario as the San Siro ‘curse’.
Robinho is expected to return to action, while Alexandre Pato may only be back for the fixture on Saturday against Parma.
