TP Mazembe defender Yaw Frimpong expects to have a heartfelt welcome back to Kumasi ahead of the 2014 World Cup qualifier against Sudan.

The 24-year-old spent a fruitful three-year spell with Kotoko where he helped them to win the Ghana Premier League title last year before leaving to join the Congolese giants.

Frimpong expects to get a warm reception from the club which made him a standout performer.

“I played for Kotoko for a couple of years and so it’s a familiar ground for me,” Frimpong said

“There is no pressure because I have played there for a number of years and I believe the fans will come out in their numbers to support us.

“It’s a great opportunity for one to serve his nation and I feel proud to have been invited.

“I’m really looking forward to it and hopefully we can get the desired result on Sunday.

Frimpong has earned his debut call-up into the team but unlikely to be involved with Tunisia-based defender Harrison Afful expected to be drafted into the right-back position.
