Ghana  defender Harrison Afful has backed Emmanuel Clottey to excel at Esperance after he completed a three-year move to the Tunisian giants.

The 25-year-old joins the Blood and Gold from Berekum Chelsea after an impressing heavily for the ambitious Ghanaian side.

Afful, who has been a key figure for Esperance over the past three seasons, is confident his Black Stars teammates can make the grades at the Tunis-based side.

“Esperance wants to retain the title in the champs league, that is why they are chasing Clottey and he is someone who always scores,” Afful said

“If you have a striker like Clottey I think every team would love to play with and chase after him.

“Esperance have made the right choice, we just hope all will go well for him. I believe in Clottey and I know what he can do.”

Clottey is the leading goal scorer in the CAF Champions Laegue with 12 goals and cost the reigning African champions US$ 1.5 million.

He won the Ghana Goal King Award in 2007 which got him a big move to Wacker Innsbruck but failed to make an impact at the Austrain side.
