Jerry Akaminko is not worried over his exclusion for the Malawi clash
Ghana defender Jerry Akaminko says he is not overly worried after been overlooked by Ghana boss Kwesi Appiah.
The Turkey-based strong centre back was a surprised omission from the Ghana squad that will play Malawi in the reverse fixture of the 2013 African Cup of Nations qualifier despite impressing heavily for new club Eskisehirspor.
The 24-year-old was an unused substitute when the Black Stars beat The Flames 2-0 in the first leg at home but was left in the cooler for the return fixture in Lilongwe.
But the 2008 Ghana best defender insists he bears no grudges.
“I don’t think it should be a problem at all. There are many players and the coach knows which ones he will need for a particular match,” Akaminko said
“Let’s pray for our team to qualify. That’s the most important thing.
Akaminko has played all four games for new Turkey Super League side Eskisehirspor.
His place has been taken by Jonathan Mensah of French outfit Evian.
Brah ,u r good ,we still need you but Jonathan has more exposure, U20 n SNR WLD CUP and 2 AFCON,YOUR CHANCE WILL COME
AKWASI SHOULD STRATEGISE WELL.HE SHOULD TRY PLAYING THE LIKES OF AKAMINKO,JOHN BOYE,JONATHAN ANNAN AT THE RIGHT BACK.IT MIGHT WORK INSTEAD OF DEAD WEIGHT PANTSIL.
LOOK AT THE LIKES OF KWADWO ASAMOAH PLAYING DEED IN COVER LEFT BACK,ESSIEN HAS BEEN USED IN RIGHT BACK POSITION.
THE CONSTANT CHANGES WILL NOT HELP IN THE LONG RUN.
AT THE MOMENT GHANA HAS NOT GOT A WINNING SELECT 11.
Why drop an quality player like that? I hope Appiah spoke with him before the call up. We need both Jonathan and Akaminko. Akaminko is right-back and center-back. He even scored a goal on his debut against Lesotho. Appiah need such a versatility in the squad. Wakaso also plays both left-back and midfield. You need guys like that always. who can easily switch roles to change the complexion of the game. Appiah is still learning, he would okay very soon.
