David Addy has achieved his dream of winning at least a title with Vitoria Guimaraes

David Addy has won his first major career title with Vitoria Guimaraes just days after he was shockingly snubbed by Ghana for next month’s 2014 World Cup qualifiers.

The 23-year-old capped a fantastic season by helping the Conquerors to their first ever Cup final triumph with a come from behind win over giants Benfica on Sunday.

Late goals by strikers; Hilal El Arbi Soudani and Ricardo Pereira in the 80th and 82nd minute won the Tarca de Portugal title.

Rui Vitoria’s side went behind on the 30th minute mark with Osvaldo Gaitan scoring to put the league runner’s up on their way to a routine victory before a packed crowd at the Estadio Nacional in Oeiras.

Guimaraes however stuck to their well-drilled tactics which sustained them all the way to turn on the style with only ten minutes left to play.

The unfazed youngsters mesmerized their marauding opponents to slot in two quick goals to record another football fairy tale story.

Addy now becomes the first Ghanaian to win the Portuguese Cup haven joined Guimaraes at the beginning of the season from FC Porto.

The ex Wa All Stars player became a regular starter in the team in just his first season and helped the side to a 9th place finish in the Portuguese top flight this term.

Vitoria Guimaraes will now be competing in next season’s Europa League as Cup winner’s – a spot they already secured by making it to the grand finale with their opponents’ qualification to the Champions League.
