David Addy staying positive after Ghana AFCON snub

Posted On Thursday, 13th December 2012

David Addy is not worried he could not make Ghana's Nations Cup squad

Portugal-based defender David Addy wants to concentrate on his club career after failing to make Ghana’s Africa Cup of Nations squad.

The left-back was overlooked by Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah in his provisional 26-man squad despite impressive displays for Vitoria Guimaraes.

Appiah decided to select Juventus star Kwadwo Appiah, Mubarak Wakaso and Richard Kissi-Boateng.

Addy has made eight appearances for Guimaraes in the Portuguese top-flight this term and scored one goal.

He wants to move on after his hope of a first Nations Cup appearance fizzled into thin air on Thursday afternoon.

“Go with the flow and always be happy with what you have achieved and what you can do in future. Stay positive and I’m very positive,” the 22-year-old posted on his official Twitter page.

Addy has not represented Ghana at any tournament since 2009 when he featured for the U20 to win the FIFA World Youth Cup.

AA OS A FOOL TO LEAVE D ADDY OFF THIS SQUAD. THIS GUY HAS EXPERIENCE PLAYING WITH GH. MOST OF HIS U20 TEAMATES ARE ALRDY IN THE SQUAD. PLUS HE IS IN FORM IN PORTUGAL, SCORING GOALS. WAT ELSE DOES AA NEED? THIS KISSI BOATENG GUY IS A MEDIOCRE DEFENDER. EVEN ZAMALEK PLAYERS PASS BY HIM LIKE WATER. JUST WATCH. MOST OF OUR GOALS WILL COME FROM THE LEFT(KISSI) OR RIGHT(PAINSTIL)…JUST WATCH

  2. GH buoy says:

it’s very very sad for a up and coming young lad like David addy. He is always the escape goat for the gfa.
He is the only active left back in Europe we have at the moment but still been over looked so many time. kiss boateng is no where close to his qualities and wakaso has not play left back for years. AA hmmmmm

  3. Mr GFA says:

AA has no vision, I had big hopes for David Addy, how can he not even include him in the 26 man squad, it discourages players like David Addy, he’s been having a good season assisting scoring playing 90 mins every game, is that not what we are looking for in our Bstar? My advice to David Addy, concentrate on ur club side and make it big. I’m not even gonna say ur time will come, because we and the GFA all know his time should have been now. In the past GBstars have been able to take left back of the likes of massawudu alhassan, lee addy and now kissi, so why not David Addy? Because of small bribe. Im disgusted . AA I swear, u better bring home the cup, I will personally b in South Africa .
