Danish second-tier side AC Horsens have extended the existing contract with Ghana youth international Joseph Mensah by one year after just two months at the club.

Mensah signed a two-year deal in July and will now see his contract run until the summer of 2017.

Horsens head coach Bo Henriksen has just had the Ghanaian talent under his wing for a few months, but he is no doubt about Mensah’s great qualities.

“We have seen Joe's great potential in training, so we know what he is capable of, and when he completely get used to our style of play and way of acting, he becomes a huge asset for us. He is a gain of both the short and long term, and contract extension ensures peace and continuity,” he said.

Mensah, a former Liberty Professionals player, hopes to use his stay at Horsens will prepare him for the major European leagues.

“I like AC Horsens where everyone has welcomed me and I have enjoyed my first time at the club,” he said.

“It is a good place for a young player like me to take one step at a time, and I have been working extra hard at the beginning to settle into the city and in the squad.

“It gives me peace with a contract period of three years, and hopefully I can - through good performance - use AC Horsens as a springboard to a bigger club.”
