Standard Liege technical director Jean-Francois De Sart has dismissed suggestions that defender Daniel Opare will leave the club.

GHANAsoccernet.com revealed on Sunday that the 23-year-old was dragging his feet of signing a new deal with his contract expected to end in June next year.

The Belgian Pro-League side could be forced to sell the Ghanaian international if he fails to renew his contract as he could leave for free after the 2014 World Cup.

But Liege technical director Jean-Francois De Sart insists the former Real Madrid youth player will not leave the club in January.

“We are in talks with both players (Opare and Geofrey) to extend their contracts. They are still stuck. For now, there is no reason why they would leave in January," De Sart told Voetballnieuws.

The versatile wing-back is set to make Ghana’s squad for the upcoming World Cup tournament after featuring prominently in the qualifiers.
