Ghana defender Daniel Opare would relish an opportunity to play on the same pitch with Lionel Messi while admonishing his long-cherished dream of playing for Manchester United.

The 21-year-old versatile defender missed the chance to play against the football goddess when he joined  Real Madrid after been restricted to the youth team.

But two years after he joined Belgian side Standard Liege, the young marauding right-full back has an unfulfilled dream of playing against the finest player on the planet and also dreams of playing for English giants Manchester United in the future.

“Messi is a great player,” the 21-year-old told Accra-based Metro TV. “He’s very good and I really want to play with him,”

That will be great and I’m looking forward to that one day,”

“Manchester United are a great team. It’s a team I would want to play for one day, and I have been hoping for that dream to come true. I love Manchester United.”

The former Ashantigold defender was recognized as one of the 50 Most Exciting Teenagers on the Planet in 2007.

He was a key member of Ghana’s Under-20 side that clinched Africa’s first ever gold medal at the 2009 World Youth Championship.
