Ghana defender Daniel Opare returned to the substitute bench for Belgian side Standard Liege in the Pro League for the first time in three months after recovering from injury.

The 22-year-old damaged his fifth metatarsal in his right foot during training in October and played his first game for the club in a 3-1 international club friendly defeat to Germans VfL Wolfsburg last week.

Liege boss Mircea Rednic handed the former Real Madrid youth team player a spot in his 18-man squad for the game but did not use him in the game as he watched the entire proceedings from the bench.

A double second half strikes from Michy Batshuayi and Jelle Van Damme helped Liege to a 2-0 victory.
