Ex-Ghana goalkeeper Abubakari Damba is confident his former side RTU will return to the Ghana Premier League after a bright start in the zone I promotional playoffs.

The Pride of the North earned a hard fought 3-2 win over Wa African at the Essipong Stadium on Sunday.

RTU, who got relegated two seasons ago, will have to beat BA United, 2-0 winners over Berekum Arsenals, on Wednesday to clear the path for their return.

It looks like it will be a tough assignment but Damba is optimistic of their qualification chances.

“We are returning to the league this year. The boys know what is at hand and the win against West African United shows the guys are determined,” the former Hearts goalkeepers’ trainer told GHANASoccernet.com

“It will be a great relieve to have premier league football back in the north.

“I am confident they will return next year.”
